September 9, 1898 ---- December 18, 1960

Scott M. Ellsworth, son of Walter and Ingra Johnson Ellsworth, was born at Ellsworth, Iowa on Sept. 9th, 1898 and passed away at a Ft. Dodge hospital on Dec. 18th. When Mr. Ellsworth was a small boy his family moved to Tarkio, Mo. He graduated from the Tarkio High School and later attended Iowa State College in Ames. While in college he entered the U.S. Army through selective service and served several months during World War I. Following the war he came to Eagle Grove in 1919 and went into the automobile business. He was married to Ruth Pletcher on Oct. 30, 1922. In 1930 Mr. Ellsworth started in the business of transportation by motor vehicle and has been working in this field since that time. He was widely known as a pioneer in this field of transportation.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and two sisters. Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife, Ruth, his mother, two brothers, Walter and Claire Ellsworth, four sons and three daughters. They are Edward Ellsworth, James Ellsworth, Lois (Mrs. Milton Adams), Richard Ellsworth, Raymond Ellsworth, Patricia (Mrs. Ruiter), Eldene (Mrs. Robert Bjornson), also 18 grandchildren survive.

Mr. Ellsworth was a member of the First Methodist Church of Eagle Grove, having joined with his family in 1949, having joined the Methodist Church first in Tarkio, Mo.
