Ruth N. Pletcher was born on April 14, 1906, at Eagle Grove to William and Louisa (Griffith) Pletcher. She received her education from rural Eagle Grove Schools. On October 30, 1922, she was united in marriage to Scott M. Ellsworth at Eagle Grove. Together they started Ellsworth Freight Lines where she worked in the office. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and an Honorary Member of the Rebecca Circle.

Ruth N. Ellsworth died Friday September 20, 1996, at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City at the age of 90. Survivors include a son, Ed and Elsie Ellsworth, Eagle Grove; son, Jim and Terry Ellsworth, Carteret, N. J.; daughter, Lois and Mick Adams, Oakland, Minn.; son, Richard and Marge Ellsworth, Carmel, Indiana; son, Ray and Ruth Ellsworth, Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Patricia Coleman, Seneca, Pennsylvania; daughter, Eldene and Don Mericle, Eagle Grove; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Harry, and a granddaughter, Julie Schnute. Private family services will be held at a later date. Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove is in charge of arrangements.
