SPARTA, Wis. - Florence A.M. Kuehn, 90, of Sparta, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse. She was born in Klemme, Iowa, on June 11, 1908, the daughter of George and Martha (Studt) Waterman. Her mother died when Florence was only 2 years old. The family later moved to Sanborn, Minn. She attended parochial school there and was confirmed in 1921. She later attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn., graduating in 1928. Florence taught at the Lutheran Elementary School in Cudahy, Wis., for one year. On July 7, 1929, she was united in marriage to Herbert Kuehn at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, Minn. They resided in Sparta ever since. She taught at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran School part time for a few years when first arriving in Sparta.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and of the Ladies Aid and had many friends. She was an active golfer, playing regularly, even into her mid-80s. Upon retiring, Herb and Florence traveled frequently, eventually covering much of the United States. They especially enjoyed the trip they took to Hawaii with friends.

For the past two years, Herb and Florence have lived together at the Morrow Memorial Home, where they made many additional friends among those who work there. The family wishes to thank the many staff members at the Morrow Home for their love and care. She will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Esther Steinberg. She is survived by her husband, Herb; one daughter, Jan (Dan) Moszyk of Overland Park, Kan.; one son, Robert Kuehn of Madison, Wis.; three grandchildren, Kim (Mark) Coats of Belton, Mo., Paul (Teri) Moszyk of Olathe, Kan.; Danielle Moszyk of Washington, D.C.; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Moszyk; three sisters, Martha Huak of Sanborn, Minn., Opal Wendt and Neota (August) Steinberg of New Ulm, Minn.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sparta, with the Rev. Del Begalka officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Memorials may be given to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Page-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
