Wayne F. Peterson, 78, Fort Dodge, Iowa, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at USA Health Care, Fort Dodge. Mr. Peterson was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Vincent, Iowa. He attended country school in Newark Township and later, Eagle Grove High School. He farmed with his father in Newark Township and was also very active in raising Angus cattle. He married Mabel Gustafson in January 1951 and they were later divorced. He retired from farming in the late 1970s and on Jan. 18, 1982, he married Marian Bergren. For the past several years they wintered in Mesa, Ariz. He was a member of the Vincent United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and the Elks Club. He was a past Eagle Grove School Board member, and was a member of the Vincent Co-op Board, receiving the distinguished service award as a commissioner for the Webster County Soil Conservation District.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Peterson. His survivors include his wife, Marian Peterson, of the home; two daughters, Alice Lenning, Blue Springs, and Corinne Mikos, Fort Dodge; a son, Larry Peterson, Creston, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Corinne Van Sickler, Fort Dodge; a stepson, Clayton Bergren, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.

Services were Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Newark Township Cemetery, rural Vincent. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Wayne F. Peterson, 78, of Fort Dodge died from complications of surgery Friday at USA Health Care in Fort Dodge. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge, with burial at Newark Township Cemetery in rural Vincent.

Wayne F. Peterson, son of William and Hannah Johnson Peterson, was born August 18, 1922 in Vincent, Iowa. He attended country school in Newark Township and later attended the Eagle Grove High School. He is survived by his wife, Marian, two daughters, Alice Lenning of Blue Springs, Mo.; Corrine Mikos, Fort Dodge; son, Larry Peterson of Creston, Iowa; a step daughter, Corrine Van Sickler of Fort Dodge; stepson, Clayton Bergren of Cedar Rapids, seven grandchildren and four step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Peterson.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 16, 2000, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge with the Rev. William Ballard officiating. Burial was in Newark Township Cemetery, rural Vincent.
