LaVern W. “Bud” Rockow age 90, of Barron, Wisconsin, formerly of Almena, died Friday, May 17th, 2013, at Dallas Care & Rehab. Bud was born on December 8th 1922 in Dows, Iowa to Erick and Emma (Schroeder) Rockow. He was raised in Iowa and moved to Wisconsin as a teenager. On October 23rd 1943 he married Dora Scheps at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. They were married almost 70 years and raised three children.

Bud farmed and worked heavy construction. The last 20 years, prior to retirement, he was employed by the Almena Co-op as a furnace installer and carpet layer. Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, fireworks displays, maintaining his manicured lawn, and playing tournament cribbage. Bud’s passions were spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. For 20 plus years he especially enjoyed organizing elaborate Easter Egg Hunts for his grandchildren and Christmas Bunko.

Bud left the following survivors; Dora, his wife of 69 years, Barron; two sons, Dennis (Kathleen), Almena, WI; Monte (Lyn) Hugo, MN; one daughter Pennie (Joe) Molls, Turtle Lake, WI; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Barbara) Rockow, Chetek, WI; one sister Maxine (Arden) Christianson, New Richmond, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Vernard.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday May 20th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church at Almena, WI. Relatives and friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services. Rausch & Steel Funeral Home of Barron is handling the arrangements.
