West Des Moines, IA -- Peggy J. Christenson, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Peggy was born January 18, 1932 to John and Beatrice in Eagle Grove, IA. After her retirement from Guide One she went on to work at Homemakers as the "cookie lady" for the next 13 years. Peggy was also a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. Peggy is survived by her two daughters, Candace (Dave) Jackson of Des Moines and Karen (Chuck) Buel of Booneville; son, Rick (Carrie) Christenson of West Des Moines; and daughter-in-law, Rose Christenson of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Jamie (Viola), Rhonda, Jenny (Kent), Heather (Robert), Stephanie (Ben), David (Jessica), Erica (Sky) and Ashley; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; son, Gary; and her parents. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at McLaren's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
