July 3, 1891 ---- March 9, 1981

Lucile Morris, daughter of George and Rosa Tomlinson Herron, passed away Monday night, March 9, 1981, at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home, in Kanawha, Iowa, where she had been a resident for the past three months. She was born July 3, 1891, in Monroe County, Missouri and she was 89 years, 8 months and 6 days of age at the time of her death.

She received her education in the rural schools in Missouri, and attended high school in Moberly, Missouri. She was married to Elmer Morris on January 28, 1909 in Missouri and in 1915 they moved to Corwith, Iowa. Mr. Morris was a railroad employee and they moved to Kanawha, Iowa, in 1920. From 1930 to 1940, they lived in Belmond, then moved then moved back to Kanawha, where she had since made her home. She was baptized in the Christian Faith and was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church, being a lifetime member of the church Ladies Aid and serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of the Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge and for many years she worked with the Red Cross. She enjoyed needle craft, crocheting, embroidery, and had work.

Mrs. Morris is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Reisetter of Kanawha, Ia., Mrs. Dale (Bernice) Conklin of LaMesa, Calif. and Mrs. Omar (LaVonne) Maland of Kanawha, Ia.; one son, Hershel Morris of Kanawha, Ia.; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one sister, Nell Newhouse of Moberly, Mo.; many relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer in 1958; one daughter, one grandson, three brothers and three sisters.
