February 7, 1934 ---- November 9, 1984

Memorial Services were held for Eugene (Gene) Peterson, 50 formerly of Stratford, Iowa at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford of Sunday, Nov. 18, 1984, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Richard Russell in charge and Mrs. Ardelle Phipps as organist. Mr. Peterson died Friday, Nov 9 at the V.A. Hospital in Des Moines. He had been ill for 7 months. He was born in Webster City at the Hamilton Co. Hospital on Feb. 7, 1934, the son of Marvin L. and Pauline Shoberg Peterson. He was raised and attended the Stratford Community School He lived the Stratford and Boone area most of his life. He was married to Patty Bergman Nov. 2, 1956 and to this union 1 son was born, who died at infancy. On July 7, 1962 he married Karen Herndon, to this union 2 sons were born.

For several years he worked at Lehigh Tile and Sewer Plant, Franklin's Mfg. and Rolfes in Boone. He was employed at United Hydraulics in Hampton from 1977 until 1982. He was a welder by trade. Gene was a member of the United Methodist Church and served with the United States army in Korea, Jan. 1954 to Nov. 1955.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Pauline Peterson of Stratford, his wife, Karen and sons, Wade and Todd of Dows. Three sisters, Mrs. Darrell (Marelene) Anderson, Stratford, Mrs. Paul (Sandy) Stolte, Jr., Madrid and Mrs. Sharon Moller, Bellevue Nebr. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and Military rites were held Nov. 12, 1984 at United Methodist Church and Fairview Cemetery of Dows with the Watson-Beach Post 525 of the American Legion and the Williams Funeral Home of Dows in charge.
