December 11, 1895 ---- May 3, 1974

Services for Wilbur C. Tilton, 78, Humboldt, were held Monday in Lindhart Funeral Home, with burial in Union Cemetery. Mr. Tilton died Friday evening in Humboldt County Memorial Hospital following an apparent heart attack. Surviving are the widow, Theresa; son, Glenn, Humboldt; daughters: Mrs. Hubert Stone, Dakota City; Mrs. Russell Porter, Belmond; Mrs. Pat Derrig, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Clarence Schleuger, Somers; Mrs. Donald McCaulley, Fort Dodge; 24 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Mr. Tilton was born in Wedron, Illinois, and came with his parents to Mallard in 1906, attending school near Mallard. In 1915, he married Theresa Riley at Emmetsburg; the couple farmed until 1936, then moved into Humboldt. He was preceded in death by a son, Wilbur J. Tilton.

Dr. Ralph Kitterman officiated at final rites. Casket bearers were Larry Tilton, Doug Tilton, Kenny Tilton, Ronald Stone, Gary Porter and Robert Flanigan. Special music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Nelson accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Keith Sayers. Mrs. Vernon Johnson and Mrs. Clifford Stevenson were in charge of arrangement of flowers.
