Funeral services for Theresa F. Tilton, 96, Humboldt, were held Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt, with burial in the Union Cemetery, Humboldt. She died Saturday, Dec. 9, 1995, at the Care Center North in Humboldt. The Mason - Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Russell Dilley officiating. Casket bearers were Gary Porter, Larry Tilton, Randy Tilton, Mark Schleuger, Scott McCaulley, and Hugh Stone.

Survivors include four daughters, Blanche Porter of Belmond, Ruth Derrig of Fort Dodge, Irene Schleuger of Rinard, and Helen McCaulley of Fort Dodge; one son, Glenn Tilton of Humboldt; 29 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Brittingham; and a brother, Emmet Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur; one son, Wilbur Jay; a daughter, Bernice Stone; two brothers; and three sisters.

Theresa Riley, daughter of Fergus and Margaret (Germain) Riley, was born March 5, 1899. In 1910 her family moved to a farm near Emmetsburg, where she attended rural school. In 1915, she married Wilbur Tilton, a classmate and neighbor. They farmed for several years near Eagle Grove, Woolstock, Webster City, and Thor. The couple moved to Humboldt in 1937. Her husband passed away in 1974. For many years she worked at the Humboldt Hotel and also babysat for several families in the Humboldt area.
