Mrs. Ella Wallin Hanson, daughter of Solomon T. and Julia Wood was born at Sherman, Sangamon county, Illinois, on April 14, 1874, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Perry Freeman, 404 Summer avenue, Albert Lea, Minn., at 12:05 o'clock Friday morning, April 28, 1946, at the age of 72 years and 12 days. Her death closely followed that of her son Novio Wallin, who passed away April 18. Mrs. Hanson was one of a family of ten children and as a young girl moved with her parents to Iowa. She was united in marriage to Frank Wallin of Woolstock, Iowa, at the home of her parents, then residing at Chula, Missouri, on February 28, 1894. To this union four children were born; Rea, Novio, Elvin and Velda.
After their marriage, they resided on a farm near Woolstock, Ia., moving from there to a farm near Chula, Missouri. Later returning to Iowa, they lived in Woolstock, Webster City, Eagle Grove and later Clarion. In January, 1918, the family moved to a farm near Glenville, Minn., and during the course of moving Mr. Wallin was seriously injured. He passed away at the Naeve hospital, Albert Lea, Minn., February 11, 1918.
Mrs. Wallin and her two younger children carried on with the farming for a time and then moved to Albert Lea, where she obtained work and a goodly number were nursed back to health through her tender and loving care. She was married to H. F. Hanson of South Madison avenue, Albert Lea, on August 19, 1923. Mr Hanson passed away in 1929 and since then she has lived in Glenville and Albert Lea. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Glenville, Minn., to which she has been very faithful.
Surviving her are a son, Rea Wallin, of Glenville; a daughter, Mrs. Perry (Velda) Freeman of Albert Lea; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Jennings of Melstone, Montana; Mrs. Rhoda Paxton of Chula, Missouri; two brothers, Orval Wood of Centralia, Mo.; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Elvin, and recently her son Novio, also her father, Solomon T. Wood, and her mother, Mary Julia Wood, of Burden, Kansas; two brothers, John Henry Wood of Burr, Minnesota, Charles Oliver Wood of Elliott, N. D.; three sisters, Sarah Idella Daniels of Cabool, Mo.; Bessie Esther Roberts of Chula, Mo.; and Clara Belle Brashear, of Burden, Kansas.
Funeral services were conducted from the First Lutheran church of Glenville, Minn on Sunday afternoon, April 28, on Sunday afternoon, April 28, at two o'clock, and from the Kastler Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev A. C. Korsrud of Glenville, Minn., officiated. Special musical numbers were given by Miss Ovedia Nelson, Mrs. George Lubiens and Ellsworth Hall at the Glenville service and by the Misses Patricia Boughton and Marilyn Jones of Eagle Grove at the services Monday afternoon.
A number of gifts were given to missions in her memory. Interment was on the family lot, Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
