The funeral service for Alice Anliker was held Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Apostle church with Rev. Paul Banwart, Rev. Jos. Banwart and Alfred Fehr officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery south of the church. The pall bearers were Elmer Banwart, Noah Gerber, Clifford Grimm, Archie Banwart, Irvin Banwart and Bernard Metzger.
Alice Marie Anliker was born near West Bend on August 29, 1923, and met death in an auto accident on January 12, 1941, at the age of 17 years, 4 months, and 14 days. She spent her childhood days near West Bend where she attended school until she finished the ninth grade. Her parents then moved to a farm near Ottosen, where she attended school for a year. In 1939, they moved from the farm to Hardy, Iowa, where she lived until the time of her death. She was a kind hearted and thoughtful girl, always willing to help others, and those who came in contact with her learned to know her as a friend. Her death has been a severe shock to the whole community.
She leaves to mourn her death her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Anliker; five sisters, Mrs. Irene Nabor of Elgin, Ill., Hazel, Helen, Leona and Rachel, and five brothers, Raymond, Richard, Earl, Paul and Daniel, all of Hardy; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmidt, of West Bend.
Those who attended the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Ed Nabor of Elgin, Ill.; Eli Schmidt of St. Charles, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Levi Anliker of Eureka, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Eli Anliker and daughter, Shirley, of Primghar, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmidt and two sons, Alvin and Elmer, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmidt Jr., and four children and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Schmidt, all of Winthrop, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Moser and son, Paul, Sam Moser, Mrs. Aug. Knoblock and sons, August and Paul and Mrs. August Mauer, all of Lester, Ia., Mrs. Lousie Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Len Simek of Clermont, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lindeman of Algona, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. John Harris of Hardy, Ia.; Miss Agnes Killian of Wesley; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Maahs and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Jergens of Whittemore.
