October 22, 1923 --- December 1, 2015

Alyce Jean Brandrup Pixler was born on October 22, 1923 in Iroquois, So Dakota. She was born to Lester Cady Brandrup and Frances Laposky. A literal beauty queen, Alyce was the center of attention all of her life. Her smile lit up a room and she attracted all who came into contact with her. She attracted the attention of one Roy Pixler and in 1943, just two days after her 20th birthday, they were married in Louisville, Kentucky at the chapel on base while Roy was in the Air Force.

When Roy returned from service, they tried opening a restaurant in Hardy, Iowa called the Hardy Café. They soon learned that it was not the life for them. Roy then became an assistant golf pro at the Eagle Grove Country Club and not long afterwards, accepted a position as assistant golf pro at the Visalia Country Club in Visalia, California. Three years after moving to Visalia, Roy accepted the position of head pro at the Porterville Municipal Golf Course and they moved to Porterville. Alyce even ran the lunch counter at the golf course for awhile.

Alyce worked for the Southern California Gas Co. from 1953 to 1970 and then began a long career in real estate in Porterville. At one point, she was one of only two female real estate agents in town. She worked for many realtors, including Jack Letsinger, George Goga, Gateway, and lastly, Century 21. She enjoyed playing bridge and had many friends here in Porterville. She loved her 49ers and Golden State Warriors.

She leaves two sons, Todd (and wife Tina) and Mark. Granddaughters Erin Bailey (and husband Rick,) and Lauren Pixler. Great grandchildren Mason Bailey (and wife Natalie) and Reghan Bailey, along with various nieces and grand nieces and nephews.

She lived a long, full and happy life and will be missed by those who loved her. Services will be held December 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Myers Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you send donations to Kaweah Delta Hospice, 900 W. Oak Ave., Visalia, CA 93291.
