James M. Ellinger, 66, of Longmont, Colorado died April 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle fighting Leukemia. He was born January 27, 1949 in Hampton, Iowa to Eugene and Ann (Borsos) Ellinger. He was a graduate of Renwick High School in Iowa. Following his high school graduation Jim went on to attend Iowa Central Community College receiving an Electrical Engineering degree and then attended Regis College finishing with a Business degree. Married for 47 loving years, meeting in high school, then on August 19, 1967 Jim married Linda Anderson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Jim worked as a risk analyst for Public Service Company, now Xcel Energy, for 34 years retiring in November of 2013. Jim loved Las Vegas, and anything and everything to do with his grandchildren. He also had a passion for anything to do with car racing. His children had raced quarter midgets. His sons and his grandson follow that love of racing. Jim traveled this past summer extensively to quarter midget events throughout the country. He was a part of the pit crew of The Ellinger Racing Team, never missing a race to keep his grandson's tires in top shape and share in each racing memory. "Papa" was always a huge part of the lives of his Grandchildren, whether it was racing, helping with homework or goofing around with the kids to get grandma riled up. They will miss his humor and wisdom greatly.

Survivors include his wife Linda of Longmont, his sons Michael (Jennifer) Ellinger of Thornton and Jason (Debbie) Ellinger of Longmont and his daughter Janell Stephens of Longmont. He is further survived by six grandchildren; Taylor Ellinger, Austin Stephens, Brooklynn Ellinger, Ryan Ellinger, Jacob Ellinger and Joseph Melichar. His brother Ronald (Myrna) Ellinger of Pueblo; his sister Lois (Richard) Olson of Cheyenne, WY; Nancy Francis his sister-in-law and Polly Moyer his Mother-in-law of Hibbing, MN; his brothers-in-law Kenneth (Cathy) Anderson of Ames, Iowa and Steven Anderson of Las Vegas, NV and many nieces and nephews also survive. And we would never forget his pug dog "Tasha"

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Howe Mortuary. Services will follow on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Howe Mortuary in Longmont. Please dress casual to honor Jim's wishes. Private family Inurnment will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery at a later date.
