CAMANCHE, IA — Charles C. Lyons, 71, of Camanche, passed away, Monday, November 16, 2015 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – Clinton. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the First Baptist Church – Clinton. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield, Iowa on Friday at 1:00 pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Robeson, Jason Vineyard, Ryan Vineyard, Dennis Edwards, and Jerry Danzinger. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Charles Clark Lyons was born October 25, 1944 in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Homer and Ruth (Cleveland) Lyons. He was a 1962 graduate of Goldfield High School. He attended Eagle Grove Community College and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Marycrest College in Davenport. He served in the United States Airforce and served as a Military Police Officer. He married Donna Lickteig on December 24, 1972; she passed away January 21, 2000. He later married Lori Caputo Vineyard on December 7, 2001 in Morrison, Illinois and renewed their vows May 25, 2002.
Chuck was a lead man at Eagle Grove soybean processing plant, worked as a security guard in St. Louis, he volunteered his time teaching the computer lab at Camanche Elementary for 22 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton for 3 years where he served as a deacon and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for 7 years. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, enjoyed knitting, and farming games on the computer. He loved his church and his family. He loved to read and was a Bible scholar.
Chuck is survived by his wife Lori of Camanche; two children: Gale (William) Robeson of Culleoka, Tennessee and Patricia Terry of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; three step-children: Jason, Ryan, and Kaitlyn Vineyard of Camanche; four grandchildren: Tiffany (Eric) Kidder of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Stephanie (Cavalla) O’Neal of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Nicole (Carl) Boeger of Topeka, Kansas, and Rebecca (Colby) Bosheers of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; twelve great grandchildren: Malea, Dante, Nevaeh, Marissa, Alyssa, Colten, Amelia, Abigail, Kaliyah, Santos, Kanin, and Priece; one brother: Glenn Lyons of LeMars, Iowa; two sisters: Marilyn Irelan of Glendale, Arizona, and Judy (Bruce) Morrison of Traer, Iowa; his mother-in-law Noreen Jaxtheimer of Ormond Beach, Florida; sister-in-laws: Sister St. James Lickteig, Darlene Forburger, Denise LaGrone, and Mary Kohler; brother-in-law: Pat Lickteig and many nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Donna and his parents. Memorial may be made to the family.
