Indianola, Iowa -- Terry Alvah Thayer, age 76, passed away at Home on Nov, 5, 2015. Terry was the son of Alvah and Vivian Thayer. He was a graduate of Clarion High School and attended Iowa State University. For many years Terry sold insurance, drove trucks, as well as dedicated his life to education through supporting the youth by teaching various subjects in school and coaching high school sports teams. Terry also was a school bus driver for Indianola. Terry, Sue and their family moved to Indianola in 1988. Terry was a active member of Warren Masonic Lodge #53.

Surviving family is his wife Sue; son Doug (Cynthia) Thayer of Indianola; daughter, Sarah Thayer of Moline, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Angela Thayer of near Bethalto, Illinois; grand children, Nathaniel and Zachary Thayer, Jackson and Presley Mooney, Kalee Jacoby and Elaine Thayer, Raymond, Michael and Casey Kociolek, great grandchildren, Violena and Jonah Jacoby and Renea Thayer; brother, David (Patti) Thayer of Arnolds Park, Iowa. Those preceding in death are two sons, Dennis and Francis.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov 10, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 108 N. Jefferson Way in Indianola. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will be in Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Masonic Services by Warren Lodge # 53. Terry and Sue both loved their years camping and traveling. Peterson Funeral Home, 602 E. Salem, Indianola, Iowa.
