Edna Bakken, 89, of Webster City, died Friday, November 6, 2015 at Southfield Wellness Community. Graveside services will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Flagg officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Edna Loraine Adams was born July 16, 1926 in Osage, the daughter of Leo and Mary Staley Adams. She attended Webster City schools. She married Kenneth H. McConnell on April 4, 1946 in Princeton, MO. To this union, six children were born. The couple later divorced. On April 14, 1967 she married Edwin Bakken in Vermillion, SD. To this union, a son was born. The couple resided in Webster City. She worked at numerous local businesses until her retirement in 1987. Edwin preceded her in death on April 10, 1999.
Edna is survived by children, Harold (Carol) McConnell of New Port Richey, Fl, Mary (Bob) Hisler of Woolstock, Andrea (Mike) Hilpipre of Webster City, Clarette (Duane) Sprecher of Clarion, Edwin Bakken II of Webster City; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Cleone Pelz of Blairsburg, Evelyn Darlene Jones of Dublin, CA; and many extended family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; step-father; son, Kenneth S. "Bub" McConnell; daughter, Sonja Ford; brothers Andrew, Marvin and Leo Adams; and a great-grandson.
Edna was a past member of the Rowan United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose, the PTA and was a leader with 4-H and Girl Scouts.
