DEATH OF J. L. MCMANAMAN
Early Day Resident Dies at Home of Daughter in Fort Dodge
J. L. McManaman of Chicago, an early day resident of Hawarden passed away at 10:30 Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Matt Agnes at Fort Dodge. Mr. McManaman came to Fort Dodge last November 10th and became ill shortly after just before Christmas he suffered a fractured leg. Due to this injury his condition became critical and death claimed him Tuesday. His remains were brought to Hawarden Wednesday and funeral services were held at St. Mary's church at 9:30 this morning with Rev. Fr. R. Graf officiating. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
J. L. McManaman was born at Homeville, Pa., Oct., 15, 1868, and so was past 72 years of age at the time of his death. He came went with his parents in 1872 and they located in Plymouth county where they engaged in farming. He was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Lynn in Hawarden October 18, 1899, Shortly after his marriage he came to Hawarden to make his home and for many years he was employed by the North Western Railway company in construction work. Later he and his wife operated a restaurant in this city but 17 years ago they went to Chicago to make their home. He was the father of six children, two having preceded him in death. One son died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. George Corbett, passed away in 1936.
The children who together with his wife are left to mourn him are Mrs. Matt Agnes of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Kay Rummel of Hawarden and Mr. Maurice Lynch of Lynn McManaman of Chicago. He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, John H. and Pete F. McManaman of Hawarden; Mrs. M. P. Noonan of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Margaret Donovan of Minneapolis and Mrs. John L. McGilvrey of Eugene, Ore. Two brothers and a sister, Michael and Patrick mcManaman and Mrs. Kate Greiner, preceded him in death.
Out of town relatives and friends who came for the funeral were Mrs. J. L. McManaman, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Lynch, Lynn McManaman, George Corbett and Frank McGann of Chicago; Anne Simonsma of Sioux Falls; Mr. and Mrs. B. Sandschultte, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Moran and daughter Helen, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sheehan, Dick Nickelson and Dr. and Mrs. R. J. Joynt of LeMars; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Agnes of Fort Dodge and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Claeys of Akron.
