June 10, 1893 --- July 27, 1958

Conrad Bendic Knudson was born June 10, 1893 at Tacoma, WA, the son of Knute and Bertha (Peterson) Knudson. He died at his home in Centerville on July 27, 1958, at the age of 65 years, one month and 17 days. During his childhood, he moved with his parents to Centerville, SD. On Feb 22, 1917, at Lancaster, MN, he was united in marriage to Serena Evenson. Six children were born to this union all of whom survive: Clifford of Portland, OR, Berdell and Boyd of Centerville SD, Rosalie (Mrs. Ray Nelson) of Vermillion, Kalmer of Hurley, SD and Darrell of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Cornelius, who died at the age of 13 and one grandson.

Mr Knudson farmed in the Centerville community until 1933 when he entered the insurance business which was his occupation until his death. Mr. Knudson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a faithful member of the Scandia Lutheran church.

Besides his children, Mr. Knudson is survived by his wife, Serena, 19 grandchildren, four brothers: Clarence and Gustave of Rapid City, SD, Sigvold and Bernest of Centerville; four sisters: Ida (Mrs. John Mitchell) of Sioux Falls, Amanda (Mrs. Joe Olson) of Sioux Falls, Mabel (Mrs. Martin Buckneberg) of Centerville and Esther (Mrs. Isaac Oakland) of Seattle, WA, as well as other relatives and friends.

Services were held at 1:30pm from the Wass Chapel and at 2 o'clock from the Scandia Lutheran church with Rev Fred Damgaard officiating. Ill for several months, death came at his home in Centerville on Sunday morning, July 27, 1958. Interment was in the Riverview cemetery. Active casket bearers were Clifford Anderson, Arnold Anderson, Stanley Knudson, Eldon Anderson, Alfred Buckneberg, and Olaf Aldren. Honorary bearers were Alvin Peterson, Harry Overgaard, Everett Austin, Robert Jacobs, Ed Gulwick, and Carl Erickson. Singing at the services was a quartette composed of Ray Bak, Burt Knutson, Ralph Duxbury, and Howard Peterson. The Rev. and Mrs. B. H. Heinze also sang a duet. Mrs. James Oakland was the organist.
