Patty Patten, 62, of Brooklyn, passed away on Saturday June 6th, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday June 11, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with burial in North Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at the church on Wednesday. Surls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Patty was born on June 24, 1952 in Iowa Falls to William “Bill” and Helen (Boor) Abbas. She went to school in Iowa Falls and graduated from Dows High School in 1970. Patty was employed by the BGM School District and worked in the elementary cafeteria and was known as one of the “lunch ladies” She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and other family. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, tomato plants and going camping.

Patty is survived by her mother Helen; her children Jennifer (Brian) Heishman, Wayne (Lora) Patten, Kelly (Jeremy) Lochray and Kyle (Kaela) Patten and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Bill, her sister Rose Ann Abbas and her stepfather A.J. Meyer.
