Marian Louise Heslop, the daughter of John and Ivy Helmer McCutcheon, was born on a farm near Goldfield, Iowa, on Nov. 27, 1908. She grew up on the family farm and attended the rural schools and graduated from the Goldfield High School. In June of 1934, she was united in marriage with Harry Willis Heslop at Goldfield. The couple lived in Eagle Grove for a few years, then moved to Florida for a short time and then moved to Ames, Iowa, where they lived for several years. Marian was employed at the Younkers Store in Ames for many years. She had been a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing for almost five years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Ames.
Mr. Heslop died in 1980. She died on Wednesday afternoon, March 27, 1985 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing at the age of 76 years, 4 months. She is survived by two sisters, Vera, Mrs. Carl Lewis of Webster City; Verla, Mrs. Harry Crovisier of rural Thor; a brother, Lawrence McCutcheon of Goldfield and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died in 1980, and 3 brothers, Walker, Leonard, and Donald McCutcheon.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marian L. Heslop, 76, of Zearing and formerly of Eagle Grove and Ames, were held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Ken Peterson, pastor of the Goldfield United Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday.
