November 23, 1884 ---- January 11, 1964

Funeral services for Thomas E. Shea, 78, were held Wednesday morning at Sacred Heart church in charge of Rev. Francis Phelan. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary was recited Tuesday evening at the Kastler Funeral home. Mr. Shea died suddenly Saturday evening at the Eagle Grove home of his daughter Miss Ruth Shea, who has cared for him for the past two years during his illness.

He is survived by three daughters; Miss Ruth Shea, Miss Joan Shea of Washington, D. C. and Mary, Mrs. Ralph Strohecker of Waterloo and two sons, Thomas of Lake Tahoe and Leo of Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane (Marshall) on May 25, 1931 a son and daughter, Veronica, Mrs. Samuel F. Smith on May 9, 1960. Also preceding him in death are three brothers, Patrick Shea, John Michael Shea and William Joseph Shea and two sisters, Mary Ellen, Mrs. Maurice Waul and Catherine, Mrs. William Bowen. Children here for the services were Joan Shea, Mary Strohecker and daughter and Thomas Shea.

Mr. Shea was born in Fort Dodge and was graduated from Cherokee High School. He came to Eagle Grove in 1911 was employed by the Chicago and North Western railroad for many years. In 1934 he joined the Eagle Grove police force and was a city policeman here until 1937 when he moved to Cedar Rapids. He was employed for some years at the Merchants National Bank in Cedar Rapids until he retired three years ago. Due to illness he was in a nursing home there for a year, and was moved here two years ago to his daughter Ruth's home.
