Mrs. Marjorie Roper, the daughter of Miller S. and Daisy R. Riley McFarland, was born on October 19, 1909 at Marshalltown, Iowa. She died on Monday, Nov. 10, 1980 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Wash, where she had been receiving medical treatment. She attained the age of 71 years and 26 days.

She attended school and graduated from Marshalltown High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls. On June 11,1934, Marjorie was united in marriage with John E. Roper at Eagle Grove. To this union were born two sons, Roger and John. The family lived in Eagle Grove. Mr. Roper was associated with the family hardware business for many years. Marjorie started teaching school in 1933, and after her marriage and the raising of her sons, she returned to teaching and was active until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the P.E.O., E.J. Chapter, and other clubs and organizations.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Roger Roper of Tacoma, Wash, and Dr. Jack Roper of Eldridge; five grandchildren; a sister, Winona A. McFarland of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Donald B. McFarland of Victorville, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1971; two brothers, Leland and Raymond; and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Cross.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie Roper were held on Friday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Kenneth R. Reiter, pastor of the United Church of Christ officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Thursday at the funeral home.
