Obituary of J. E. Stauffacher

Jacob, son of Dietrich and Anna Norder Stauffacher, was born in Green County, Wisconsin, August 10, 1864 where he grew to manhood. He was in the cheese making business at Monticello, Wisconsin until he started farming.

Jacob Stauffacher and Barbara Klasse were married at Renwick, Iowa on March 13, 1892. They continued farming in Wisconsin for two years before settling on a farm near Renwick. God blessed this marriage with three children. In 1942, Mr. and Mrs. Stauffacher celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. He was baptized in infancy and united with the Evangelical Church at Renwick on March 14, 1926, where he was a faithful member until the time of his passing.

Mr. Stauffacher was a quiet, home-loving man. He severed as Director for School District Number 4 in Vernon Township, when he was elected but he preferred to encourage others who held public offices. His greatest pleasure was in his home and with his family. Friends who called were warmed by the spirit of hospitality and the kindliness of Mr. Stauffacher.

He fell in his home on Sunday evening, February 4th and broke his hip. He was taken to the Lutheran Hospital at Fort Dodge, Iowa. Every care possible was given to him and he manifested a beautiful spirit of patience and courage. Because of his advanced age, other complications set in and he went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, February 21, 1951.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his faithful and loving wife, Barbara; his children, Arthur of Renwick; Mrs. Minnie Mitchell of Renwick, and Mrs. Irene Lunde of Sioux City; two granddaughters, two great grandsons; two brothers, Leonard of Fenimore, Wis., and Matt of Monroe, Wis.; a sister, Mrs. Libbie Marty of Monroe, Wisconsin, nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed. Four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Services were held at the home and at the Methodist Church in Renwick (because his own Church is erecting a new building at this time) on Sunday afternoon, February 25, the Rev. H. L. Sunderman officiating.
