Willard Dencklau, 83, of Humboldt, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. A service honoring Willard’s life will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Van Nostrand officiating with burial in the Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Willard is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his two daughters, Cindy (Darwin) Sturtz and Colette (David) Lansing all of Fort Dodge; five grandchildren, Scott Schliske, Steve Schliske, Mitch Knippel, Connor Sturtz, and Tiffany Sturtz; and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by three step children, Todd (Tracy) Zuetlau of Dakota City, Tony Zuetlau of Vincent, and Tami Steinbrink of Gowrie; five step grandchildren, Michael Steinbrink, Megan Steinbrink, Blake Zuetlau, Jaeger Zuetlau, and Ryan Zuetlau; also survived by his sister, Irene Lindsay of Sterling, Ill and his dog, Molly. He is preceded in death by his son, Calvin; his parents; his brothers, Clifford, Otto Jr., Robert, Sonny, Roger, and Glenn and his sister, Dorothy Maage.

Willard Allen Dencklau, the son of Otto and Florence (Modler) Dencklau, was born May 3, 1932 in Vincent, Iowa. He attended country school where he was involved in high school wrestling. At the age of 18, Willard started working for the Vincent Elevator. He worked for New Coop in Vincent and Fort Dodge retiring in 2006. Willard married Roberta Mann and they later divorced. On November 26, 1983, Willard married Rosemary Colwell Zuetlau. After their marriage the couple made Humboldt their home. Willard enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
