Maridean Baker, 78, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on October 5th, 2015, in the care of Iowa River Hospice. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th, 2015, at 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with a memorial service following. Memorials may be directed to the family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Maridean and her family.

Maridean Caryl Alsvig was born on September 16th, 1937, to Ingvald Alsvig and Gertrude Amdahl in Clarion, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the Clarion school district, graduating with the class of 1955. In 1957, Maridean and Marvin Baker were united in marriage at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together the family made their home and raised their family there, later relocating to Marshalltown in 1965. Maridean and Marvin later divorced. He passed away in 1984. She was employed as the Wright County Auditor in Clarion, worked for Marshalltown Instruments, and as a Pharmacy Technician from 1986 until her retirement in 2005. She enjoyed crafts and making greeting cards, cross-stitch, reading and word search puzzles.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Brenda Reese, Mark Baker, Cory Baker; Grandchildren; Jason Reese, Justin Reese, Jennifer Mahoney, Jamie Reese, Brittany Gould, Michael Baker and 10 great-grandchildren. In death, she rejoins her parents, Ingvald and Gertrude Alsvig; former spouse, Marvin Baker; brother, Loren Alsvig and many aunts and uncles.
