Frank E. McGrath of New Richland passed away Tuesday at 1 a.m. at the Waseca Memorial Hospital. He had been ill with cancer, very briefly. A son of Warren E. McGrath and his wife, Martha (Nellie) Miner, he was born January 16, 1906 on a farm near Kanawha, Iowa. He attended school in both Iowa and Minnesota. During his lifetime, he farmed and also worked for Waseca County on road maintenance. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, New Richland. Prior to coming to New Richland, on March 8, 1917, he lived in the Kanawha and Britt Iowa areas.
He is survived by a brother Charles of Emily, Minnesota and four sisters, Miss Ethel McGrath of New Richland, Mrs. Jessie Clayton of Waseca, Mrs. Mabel Larson of Hector and Mrs. Elsie Long of Pipestone. Five nieces and three nephews and a number of grand nieces and nephews survive also. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mrs. Edwin (Dorothy) Splett and two brothers, Miner and Thomas. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p. m. at the First Congregational Church of New Richland with the Rev. Rodney Slessor officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at Friedrich’s Funeral Home after 2 p. m., today, Thursday. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a. m., Friday until the time of services. Pallbearers will be nephews and grand nephews.
