August 30, 1901 --- March 4, 1965

Floyd W. Berhow, well-known agent of the Lutheran Brotherhood fraternal insurance society, died while sleeping early Thursday, March 4, 1965. Although the death was due to a heart condition, he had suffered no illness except for some mild chest pains the previous day. Since he had enjoyed excellent health for years, the death was very unexpected. The funeral service was held Monday afternoon, March 8, at St. John's Lutheran church where Mr. Berhow was a member. The Rev. Boral R. Biorn officiated and hymns were sung by St. John's choir of which Mr. Berhow had been a member for 18 years Frederick A. Schmidt is choir director. Interment was in Oaklawn cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were C. Eddy Erickson, R. J. Falck, Stanley T. Johnson, L. E. Norstad, Arthur M. Peterson and A. H. Wienke. The arrangements were made by Anderson's Funeral Home.

Floyd William Berhow was born August 30, 1901, at Huxley, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Jane Berhow. He was graduated from the Kanawha, Iowa, high school in 1921, attended Waldorf college at Forest city, Iowa, and was graduated from St. Olaf College in 1925. He was married to Ethel Lucille Olson on June 20, 1928, at Goodhue. The couple established their home at Bricelyn. They moved to Faribault in 1941 and to Northfield in 1943. For several years he was engaged in high school teaching and coaching later in private business. During World War II, from 1943 to 1945, he was an instructor in the V5 Flight school at St. Olaf College. Since that time he had been in the life insurance field. He is survived by his wife: two daughters, Mrs. Robert Sevey (Ann) of Excelsior and Mrs. Stuart Iverson (Alice) of Vancouver, B.C., Canada; one son, James, a senior at St. Cloud State college; two granddaughters, Lynn Sevey, 5, and Kathy Sevey, 1; three brothers, Edgar of Minneapolis, Byron of Vancouver, Wash., and Sidney of Williston, N.D. He was preceded in death by his parents.
