August 30, 1900 --- January 20, 1992

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 1992, at 1:00 p.m. from the Prosch Funeral Home in Waterville for Inez Bates, 91, who died on Monday, January 20, 1992, at the Waterville Care Center. Rev. Margery Lisle of Janesville will conduct the services and burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Elysian.

Inez Hawthorne Bates was born on August 30, 1900, to Thomas and Clara (Wiley) Hawthorne at Goldfield, Iowa. She attended Ceylon High School, Class of 1921. She was a homemaker and worked at a grocery store in Elysian for 35 years. On October 11, 1925, she was married to Frank R. Bates in Fairmont. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1962. Survivors include Ciecel and Arthur Rogers of Cleveland, one grandchild, Marcia and David Pumper of Corvallis, Oregon, and three great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Prosch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
