Selvine C. "Sally" Erland died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, at the age of 92. Survivors include her brother, Ruben Erland, Eagle Grove; nephew, Michael Erland, and wife, Rita, Greeley, Colo.; niece, Mary Derscheid, and husband, Doug, O'Neill, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Arnold Erland, and wife, Cornelia; nephew, Lowell Erland; and niece, Ardis Dudly.

Selvine C. "Sally" Erland, the daughter of Lars P. and Carrie B. (Bjelland) Erland, was born on November 15, 1909, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved with her family to South Dakota in 1921. She attended South Dakota Normal School in Madison, S.D., where she obtained her teaching certificate. She also graduated from Wessington Springs Junior College in Wessington Springs, S. D. She moved to Eagle Grove in 1933 with her brother, Ruben Erland. She taught school at Troy Township, worked as a Blood Technician at Fort Dodge Laboratories, and was a dental assistant for Drs. Johnson and Varland in Eagle Grove. She moved to the Rotary Ann Home in 1973. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m., at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Lutheran Social Services of Des Moines through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.
