September 10, 1887 --- July 8, 1974

Eddie Oli Kallem was born September 10, 1887, at Thor, Iowa, the son of Rasmus and Jolianna Kallem. He received his education in Thor and Badger schools, and moved to Minnesota as a young man. He was united in marriage to Louise Mathilda Hanson on June 12, 1912, at Rothsay, Minn. The couple moved to Montana in 1918, where he lived for 13 years, before returning to Eagle Grove. In 1952, they moved to Minnesota and lived there until returning to Eagle Grove in 1970. Since Aug. 9, 1973, he had resided in the Heritage Home, Clarion. He passed away there on Monday, July 8, at the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 28 days.

He is survived by his wife; four sons: James, Foreston, Minn.; Robert and Kenneth, Eagle Grove; Floyd, Alden; six daughters: Mrs. Vivian Jones, Goldfield; Rose, Mrs. Milford Thompson, LuVerne; Elsie, Mrs. Orval Minor and Dorothy, Mrs. Wally Cripps, Marshalltown; Joyce, Mrs. Wm. Chantland, Torrance, Calif.; Jean, Mrs. Virgil Lee, Bellevue, Nebr.; 38 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, Ernest and Donald. Mr. Kallem was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 11, at 2 p.m. at the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. Pastor P. L. Mork officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
