Fred Thomas Rites Tuesday Afternoon

Fred Thomas, 78, died Friday at the home of his sister Mrs. Lily Hodge with whom he made his home. He had resided in Eagle Grove for many years and worked on farms in this area. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Albert Snyder. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Fred Thomas was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archibald W. Thomas. He was born in the Oklahoma Territory on Nov. 16, 1883. He died in his sleep on July 29 at the age of 76 years. 8 months and 13 days. As a young man he lived in South Dakota. He moved to Iowa in 1914. He was a resident of Eagle Grove since 1942. He was never married. His livelihood was made by working on farms in the area. He resided in Eagle Grove with his sister, Mrs. Lillie Hodge at 212 N. W. 7th St.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Archibald Wilson Thomas and one sister Elizabeth Thomas who died in infancy. He is survived by two sisters Mrs. Laura Williams of Eugene, Ore and Mrs. Lillie Hodge of Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held at the Kastler Funeral Home in Eagle Grove at 2 p.m. Aug 2nd with the Rev. Albert Snyder, Pastor of the Baptist church officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
