Frank Wilkin Dies Friday Afternoon

Frank Wilkin, 74, died Friday athis home on North Fort Ave while taking an afternoon nap. Mr. Wilkin's health had been failing for a month and the five days previous to death his condition had become steadily weaker. Mr. and Mrs. Wilkin moved to Eagle Grove eight years ago from the farm to make their home. With Mrs. Wilkin, two sons survive, Walter of Denver, Colo., and James of Hollywood, Calif., also one brother Ralph Wilkin of Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Wilson's Chapel with Elder MacDonald of Des Moines officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Woolstock cemetery. Present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wilkin and two daughters of Denver, Colo., James Wilkin of Hollywood. Calif. Walter Hayer of Lamoni, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Thompson of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Will Kirstein and Mr. and Mrs. Will Allen of Des Moines.

Frank Wilkin was born on March 15, 1876 at Tallegrand, Keokuk county, Iowa. He was the second son of James and Cassaredra Dillon Wilkin. He came to Wright county when a young man and was married to Clara Hayer on January 28, 1903 at Lamoni, Iowa. Five children were born James, Eleanor, Ruth, Walter and Frank, Jr. They lived on the home farm at Head Grove until February 19, 1942 when they moved to their present home in Eagle Grove. There remains his wife, son James of Hollywood, Calif., son Walter of Denver, Colo., daughter-in-law Loretta Wilkin, two granddaughters Janet and Jeanne Wilkin of Denver, and his brother Ralph of Los Angeles. Those of his family who have gone on before are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Wilkin, brother Ross, sisters Mrs. S. W. Neill of Fort Dodge, and Mrs. A. L. Bennett of Aitikin, Minn., his children Eleanor Mohler, Ruth, Frank Jr., and his daughter-in-law Sabina Wilkin. Mr. Wilkin's health had been failing for several months and he passed away on June 30, 1950. Services were held at 2 p. m. at Wilson Funeral Chapel, July 3, 1950. Elder MacDonald, Des Moines, Iowa, officiating. Burial was in family lot in Woolstock cemetery.
