Farm accident takes life of Hardy man
Services for Joseph Arnold Johnson, 64, rural Hardy man killed in a farm accident Wednesday, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hardy Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Blossom Hill Cemetery. Johnson was killed when his clothing became entangled in a grain elevator power take-off on the Myron Westre farm near Hardy Wednesday morning. Authorities said Johnson and Myron and Clarence Westre were setting up the grain elevator to lead seed corn when the accident occurred about 9 a.m. Johnson's jacket sleeve apparently became caught in the take-off between the tractor and the elevator and he was wrapped around the take-off. Myron Westre was taken to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt, for treatment of shock following the accident. Johnson had been employed as a hired man by Westre and lived on the Westre farm authorities said. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Christine Anderson, Goldfield, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Eva Johnson, Hardy. Mr. Johnson was born at Buffalo.
