February 24, 1886 --- July 8, 1962

Benjamin E. McCulloch, a resident of the community for 52 years, died unexpectedly Sunday morning July 8, following a stroke. This had
been preceded by a coronary heart attack two months before. Born in Primrose, Iowa, Feb. 24, 1886 he attended Iowa State University where he studied Veterinary Medicine. Following his graduation in 1910 he came to Eagle Grove to begin his practice and married Eva Kimmitt, Dec 18, 1912. Here he led an active life in the community. He was President of the Eagle Grove District Fair Board for 23 years and past president of Rotary Club. His interest in education led him to be President of the School Board for 12 years. He served on the Executive Committee of Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. A member of the First Methodist Church, he served in numerous capacities such as financial secretary for 12 years.

Surviving are his wife, Eva, four children, Dale McCulloch, Mildred Grcenleaf, Mary Lois Haight, Margaret Winkleman and 10 grandchildren. Masonic services were held Wednesday evening at Kastler Funeral Home. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church in charge of Rev. Lyle Lieder.
