January 24, 1881 -- May 13, 1980

Mrs. Frank (Rebecca) Bernard, 99, a former Webster City resident, died Tuesday evening, May 13 in the Methodist hospital in Omaha where she had been a patient for a week. Funeral services were held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral home with the Raymond M. Roden officiating and burial was at the Cass Center Cemetery.

Rebecca C. Larson, the daughter of Lars and Bertha Johnson Larson, was born Jan. 24, 1881 in Egersund, Norway. She came to the United States with her family in 1892 and they came to Webster City where she was educated. She was married in 1906 to Barney N. Thompson and the couple farmed near Woolstock until Mr. Thompson's death in 1921. She then lived in Eagle Grove for a short time and then moved to Webster City again. She was married in April of 1953 to Frank Bernard, who preceded her in death in 1964. She continued to live in Webster City for 10 years and for the last five years has lived in Ralston, Neb. with her daughter.

She is survived by two sons and four daughters, John Thompson of Webster City, Ben Thompson of Port Orchard, Wash., Mrs. Ruth Gudvangen of Ralston, Neb., Mrs. Elmar (Bessie) Knapp of Webster City, Mrs. Maurice (Esther) Goehring of Redmond, Wash., and Mrs. Burdette (Beatrice) Butz of Eagle Grove; 42 grandchildren; more than 100 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Rena Wright of Bull Shoals, Ark. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, and one daughter, two grandchildren, both parents, three brothers and two sisters.
