June 13, 1917 --- November 15, 1987

Marion Oren Hoveland, was born June 13, 1917, the son of George and Sadie Ellingston Hoveland of Kanawha, He received his education in the Kanawha schools. In October, 1942, he joined the U. S. Army and served with the 781st Tank Batallion in the European Theatre. On May 15, 1943, he married Lucille Nerem at Eagle Grove. He was discharged from the service in 1945. The couple farmed in the Renwick area until 1975 when they moved to the Stanhope area. Mr. Hoveland was employed by the maintenance department of Bethany Manor of Story City. In 1978 he was employed as a custodian at the Hamilton County Hospital until his retirement in 1981. The couple then moved to Webster City. Mr Hoveland was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Webster City and the American Legion Post No. 289 of Renwick.

Marion (Bud) Hoveland, 70, Webster City, died Sunday morning, November 15, 1987, at Trinity Regional Hospital. He had been in ill health for the past two years. He was preceded in death by two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; three daughters, Beverly Zimmer and Mrs. Richard (Eilene) Elliott, of Webster City; Mrs. Olene (Kimberly) Hanson, Ellsworth; one son, Michael Hoveland of Stratford; 11 grandchildren; and one brother, Orville Hoveland of Kanawha.

Funeral services were held. at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with the Rev. Raymond M Roden officiating. Burial was in Amsterdam Township Cemetery west of Kanawha.
