April 9, 1915 --- November 7, 1987

George T. Vilmain was born April 9, 1915, the son of Leon and Josephine Lejal Vilmain at Eagle Grove. He attended the Sacred Heart Catholic school and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. George served his country with four years in the Army during WWII where he was stationed in the Pacific-Asiatic theater. He was a sergeant in 1875th Engineers Aviation Batallion. After his enlistment, he returned to Eagle Grove and operated his own grocery store and served as a substitute mail carrier for many years. He has served of the Eagle Grove City Council as mayor pro-tem. Recently he furnished a building to Eagle Grove to cater to many human related needs.

George T. Vilmain died Saturday, November 7, 1987 at his home as the result of an extended illness, at the age of 72 years, six months, and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lucien, and Ray; and two sisters, Louise Thompson, and Amelia Salminen. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, one son, John of Boone; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Georgine) Wessells, of Moorhead; two brothers, Richard, Eagle Grove, and Francis of Cedar Falls; one sister, Sister Mary Georgine of Rockford, Ill.; and one grandson, Nicholas Vilmain.

A Rosary was held November 10, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home with funeral services held November 11, 1987 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Eagle Grove, with the Rev. Wayne Droessler officiating Burial was held at Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
