Clair Hugh Wilcoxson, age 77, of River Falls, died Friday, Sept. 11, at the Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls, Wisconsin. He was born April 6, 1938, to Milo and Beth (Lewis) Wilcoxson in Eagle Grove, Iowa. At the age of 2 they moved up to Hudson, Wis., where his brother Neil still farms, on the family farm. Clair attended Hudson Public Schools until the age of 16. He worked for Bill Clapp for a couple of years hauling lime and fertilizer until the summer of 1956 when he began his dairy farming career of 45 years at the Glover Road farm where he and Donna raised 5 children. The family farm is still being run by Clair's son, Duane.
Clair didn't have many hobbies, but he enjoyed fraternizing at the Moose Lodge, dancing, playing cards, and his coffee clan at McDonalds. He also spent many hours doing "windshield crop tours" wearing out his white Ford Ranger.
Clair is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna; his children, Duane (Julie) Wilcoxson, Dennis (Vicki) Wilcoxson, Cathy (Wayne) Warnke and his twin daughters, Christie (Al) Hanson, and Connie (Al) Pechacek; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers and sister, Neil (Mary Ross) Wilcoxson, Vera (Charlie) Grant, and Paul (Arlyss) Wilcoxson; brother-in-law, Dennis Nelson; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wilma Smith, Judy (Marvin) Nielsen, Bill Owens, Joy (John) Reis, Rita (Dale) Griffey and Ross (Nanci) Nelson; Aunt Ethel Guion; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Clair was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Faye Nelson; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Wilcoxson and sister-in-law, Merry Nelson.
A celebration of Clair's life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Al and Christie Hanson Farm, 301 County Road U, River Falls at 12 noon, with visitation 2 hours prior to the service. Casual dress was Clair's request. Interment will be at the German Settlement Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
