Myron Henry “Mike” Simmons, 64, of Brunswick, MO died on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his home. Inurnment services will be held at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, Jacksonville, MO, Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Patrick Simmons officiating. He was born on March 5, 1951 at Iowa City, IA the son of Richard and Barbara Lynn Simmons. He graduated from Clarion, IA High School in 1969 and had attended College for two years. He had served his country as a member of the Marines and the Army. He served in the Vietnam War and was involved in the evacuation of Phnom Pen Cambodia and Vietnam. He also took part in the rescue on Kohtong Island and served in Dessert Shield, Storm and Farewell. He had worked as an over the road truck driver. He was married to Ellena Watts on October 24, 2011 at Keytesville, MO. Ellena survives him at the home. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Simmons of Clarion, IA; three daughters, Sarah Ferris of Chesapeake, VA, Stephanie Starke of Chesapeake, VA, and Stacy Barker of Mexico, MO; one step-daughter, Brittany Gauthier of Brunswick, MO; two brothers, Richard Simmons, Jr. of St. Louis, MO and Patrick Simmons of Shockapee, MN; four sisters, Jeleane Simmons of Fox, AZ, Sheila Simmons of Parson, KS, Rosemary Simmons of Washington and Doris Holmes of Clarion, IA; ten grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Cremation arrangements by, Breshears Memorial Chapel, Brunswick, MO.
