Marie Wallace Francis was born August 3, 1909, the daughter of John W. and Martha B. Francis at Chicago, Ill. She received her education in the Chicago school system. She moved to Sioux City in 1928. She held various jobs there until moving to Bremerton, Wash., in 1941. She was employed at Kaiser Ship Building. After the end of World War II, she returned to Sioux City and was hired by Swift & Cudahy Packaging. She also worked as a cook in restaurants and nursing homes in the Sioux City area.

She was united in marriage to Oscar Bjorklund of Sioux City on August 3, 1951, at Elk Point, S. D. The couple made their home in Sioux City until Mr. Bjorklund's retirement in 196S. At that time they relocated to their permanent home in Eagle Grove. She was a member of the A.F.L.-C.I.O. Meat Cutters Union and the Eagles Lodge.

Marie Wallace Bjorklund died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion on February 20, 1994, at the age of 84 years, six months, and 17 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Oscar, of Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 22 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Maynard Moen officiated at the 2 p.m. service. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
