October 24, 1906 --- June 11, 1969

Harold Johnson was born October 24, 1906 at Eagle Grove, Iowa to Jacob and Martha Roland Johnson. He was baptized at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church on December 2, 1906 by Rev. O. H. Sletten. He died at Veteran's Hospital, Des Moines, on June 11, 1969 after reaching the age of 62 years, 7 months and 17 days.

Harold received his education in the Eagle Grove Public Schools and served in World War II receiving his discharge in 1945. He was an employee of the Chicago North Western Railroad in the bridge and builders department, retiring on February 23, 1968. On April 17, 1959 he married Emma Hill at Algona, Iowa. He has been in ill health for some time and in February of 1969 entered the Veteran's Hospital at Des Moines. About five weeks ago, he did return home for 2 weeks and then reentered the hospital. They had lived in the present home for 5 years.

Those who mourn his departure are his wife Emma; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Marjorie Blecker of Clarion; 2 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; a brother, Charles (Polly) Johnson of Eagle Grove; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mabel Hacker of Emmons, Minn., and Myrtle, Mrs. Cliff Richardson of LuVerne, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 13 at Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Rev. H. W. Schiller, pastor of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery.
