Florence Louise Thompson was born on January 3, 1902, to Jerome and Effie Nagel Thompson in Clay County, Ill. She and her family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, in October of 1914 at the age of twelve. She was educated in Lela Howland School and also in Rutland. She was united in marriage to Willard Thomason on February 23, 1921, at the home of her parents and they made their home on a farm east of Eagle Grove.
Florence L. Thomason died Thursday, March 26. 1998, at the Clarion Health Care Center in Clarion at the age of 96. Survivors include two sons, Dale and wife, Genevieve, Eagle Grove, and Orin, Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Phyllis Fyfe and husband, Clarence, Des Moines, Dolores Herman, Johnston, and Wilma Goetsch, Fort Worth. Texas; 19 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Velma Passmore, Monona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willard on January 21, 1978, and one grandson, Loren Thomason.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 30, 1998, at 1:30 p.m. at Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor Carlton J Shaw of Samuel Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
