Mrs. Lillie Nelson Dies at Home of Daughter Last Night
Mrs. Lillie G. Nelson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John I. Linquist, 1226 Blondeau street last night at 7:45 o'clock after a lingering illness. A former Keokuk resident, she returned 12 years ago from Molalla, Ore. and had lived here since. The daughter of George and Mary Lilley Helmer, she was born August 2, 1871 in Grundy Center. She married L. L. Brown at Grundy Center in 1890. He died in 1935 and in 1937 she married John C. Nelson in Molalla. He died in 1939. She was a member of the Keokuk Gospel Center.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John I. Linquist and Mrs. Lola Johnson, both of Keokuk, a son, Llewellyn Brown of Portland, Ore.; five sisters, Mrs. Daisy Rasmussen of Goldfield, Iowa, Mrs. Flora Slaikeu of Alhambra, Calif., Mrs. John McCutcheon of Goldfield, Mrs. John Pehl of Renwick and Mrs. M. R. Whymann of Grenado, Tex., 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, George A. Helmer and two sisters, Miss Callie Helmer and Mrs. Rose Rasmussen. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Schmidt Memorial Home.
