August 30, 1920 --- April 17, 2015

Rachael Anne Beasley, 94, of Dubuque, died Friday, April 17, 2015. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with Rev. Okitakoyi Lundula officiating. Burial will follow at the Sherrill United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Church until time of services. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Rachael was born on August 30, 1920, the oldest daughter of Fred and Johanna (Law) Hackbarth, on the family farm near Dows,Iowa. She graduated 8th grade from Morgan Township #5 and later graduated high school from Dows High School in 1938. She married Frank M. Beasley, February 4, 1946. They later divorced. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and acquired a teaching certificate. Her teaching career spanned 37 years throughout Iowa. In 1966, her family moved from Cedar Falls to Dubuque. She taught for 2 years for Western Dubuque in Epworth. Later in Dubuque, she was an Elementary Art Specialist teaching at Fulton, Table Mound, Jackson and Sageville Schools. She continued her art education at Loras and Clarke Colleges.

After moving to Mini Mt Ranch near Holy Cross, she again taught for Western Dubuque, 5th grade language arts and art for 10 years. During her last four years of teaching, she taught 1st grade and kindergarten. In retirement, she served as a tour guide for the Dubuque Historical Society at St. Luke's Church.

She is survived by her three children, Frederick (Linda) Beasley, of Plainview, Neb, Sarah Jo (Bruce) Redding, and Loren Beasley, both of Dubuque. Six grandchildren, six great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, a daughter Marjorie Anne on December 1, 1982, two sisters Kathryn Gray and Phyllis Bueghly and a grandson Eric Redding on August 14, 2005.

A Rachael A. Beasley memorial fund has been established. The family thanks all the heath care professionals for the wonderful care of their mother, especially Dr. Matthew Kirkendall and his nurse Kate, Dr. Keith Shaw, Dr. Randy Lengeling, Dr. Krishnarao Gorrepati, Dr. John Viner, Mercy and Finley ER staff, nurses Donna and Theressa and student nurse Megan. Thank you also for the prayers by family and friends, Marsha Dubbles, and the St. Lukes family.
