Nora N. Watson, five days short of her 102nd birthday, passed away Feb. 21, 2015. She was born to William and Marie Nissen in Renwick, Iowa, on Feb. 26, 1913. Nora graduated from Renwick High School in 1931 and attended the University of Minnesota and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught in a country school and then public school in Kanawha, Iowa. Nora married Robert B. Watson, of Humboldt, Iowa, in 1938. They lived in Omaha for a year and then moved to North Platte.

During her 69 years in North Platte, Nora was active in First Lutheran and Messiah Lutheran, serving as organist and choir director, working in ELCW and making quilts for Lutheran World Relief. In the community, Nora was one of the founders of the North Platte Sandhill Symphony, a member of Monday Musicale, cellist in the local string trio "Singing Strings" and participant in "Bell" groups. She enjoyed singing in choirs and groups and felt that God had blessed her in many ways through her contacts and performances in music.

Nora played bridge, enjoyed reading and made over 200 quilts in her lifetime. Family and friends remember her homemade rolls and bread with great fondness, as well as her many acts of kindness and service to her community.

Nora was preceded in death by her husband, R. B. "Bob" Watson. She is survived by her four children, Ron (Patty) Watson, of Spring Hill, Florida, Barbara (M. Dee Koch), of Tyler, Texas, Jane (Seth Butterfield), of Ogden, Utah, and Bill (Becky) Watson, of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Nora will be buried next to her husband at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens cemetery in North Platte.
