The funeral service for Flossie Mae Gerths will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the First Congregational Church UCC at 12 ~ 2nd Street in Dodge Center with Reverend Jean Boese officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.

Flossie Mae Gerths, 95, of Inver Grove Heights, MN and formerly of Dodge Center, MN, died at White Pines Senior Residence in Inver Grover Heights. Flossie Mae Checkel was born on May 31, 1915, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Rose (Prusha) Checkel in Dows, IA. Flossie was united in marriage Earle J. Gerths on February 15, 1932, in Dodge Center. After the couple's marriage they farmed in the Dodge Center area. Later they moved to Hastings, MN where they lived for 26 years and Flossie was a cook at the Hastings Public Schools for 20 years. After her husband's retirement they moved back to Dodge Center and resided for a few years, moved to Colorado and returned to Minnesota in 1997. Flossie enjoyed fishing, gardening, cross stitching, and was an avid Gopher, Twins, and Vikings Fan. Flossie is survived by three sons, Jim (Marla) Gerths, Owatonna, MN; Everett "Moe" Gerths, Panama City, FL; Gregory (Carrie) Gerths, Inver Grove Heights, MN; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earle Gerths; 2 sisters, Joey Murphy and Sylvia Peck. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 110 West Main Street in Dodge Center is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials to the First Congregational Church UCC. Blessed be her memory.
