Patrick “Pat” Don Marchand, age 51, of Sioux Falls, SD died on Monday April 6, 2015 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Community Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:30 PM at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls and continue one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials are requested to the Dakota Dachshund Rescue.

Patrick Don Marchand was born on July 29, 1963 in Britt, Iowa to Donald and Leona (Blank) Marchand. Pat received his education thru the fifth grade in Kanawha, IA. He then attended school in Woden Crystal Lake, IA, graduating in 1981. Following high school Pat continued his education in Sheldon, IA, earning his degree in diesel mechanics. While in college he met and fell in love with Judy Venenga. Pat and Judy were united in marriage on June 30, 1984 in Little Rock, IA. They lived in Storm Lake, IA, until making their home in Sioux Falls, SD in 1993. As a husband, Pat showed the greatest love, concern and friendship beyond imagine. Pat and Judy were blessed with a son, Lucas and two daughters, Jessica and Sarah.

Pat has worked as a diesel mechanic at North Central International in Sioux Falls for the last 23 years he also volunteered at Dakota Dachshund Rescue. Pat was gifted with the ability to fix almost anything, from electrical work to building furniture and woodworking. He enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, flowers and collecting guns and coins. He was a hard worker, with a great sense of humor who was always willing to help out anyone in need. Above all he loved and took great pride in his family. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be deeply missed.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Judy Marchand of Sioux Falls, SD; three children, Lucas Marchand of Temple, TX, Jessica (Brian Wika) Marchand of Sioux Falls, SD, and Sarah (Bryan Haugen) Marchand of Sioux Falls, SD; four siblings, Patty (Jack) Tucker of Johnson, KS, Larry Marchand of Slidell, LA, Mary Jo (Cliff) Post of Blue Earth, MN, and Dean (Janet) Marchand of Longmont, CO; step-siblings: Brian (Catherine) Sorenson of Guttenburg, LaMae (Lindy) Peterson of Woonsocket, SD, Gail (Vance) Vander Ploeg of Greybull, WY, and Brad (Julie) Sorenson of Woden; step-father, Kenneth Sorenson of Britt, IA; father-in-law, Ted Venenga of Little Rock, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Marchand; mother, Leona Sorenson; and mother-in-law, Louise Venenga.
