Mrs. W. S. Comstock Answers Final Summons Sunday Morning

After an illness of only a few days Mrs. W. S. Comstock passed away at her home in North Lucas Avenue Sunday morning just as the day began to dawn. The cause of her demise was due to pneumonia, with which she was stricken on Tuesday Dec. 31, and although every thing that medial skill and loving and tender heart and hands could do was done to stay death, it proved conqueror.

The funeral services were held in the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Short prayer services being held at the home before and remains were brought to the church. Rev. Chapier had charge of the services, being assisted by Rev. Lander, of the Baptist church. The remains were interred in the Rose Hill cemetery where the ritualistic ceremony of the American Yeoman was given. A large body of the Yeomen, the W.R.C. and the Rebekahs accompanied the remains to the church and to the grave. Beautiful floral tributes adorned the casket and gave mute and eloquent testimony of the high esteem and regards with which she was held by the large circle of friends who so keenly feel their loss and who extend to the bereaved children their sympathy.

Lucretia Whiteley was born in Warren county, Pa., Dec. 7, 1849, and was married to W. S. Comstock at Freehold, Pa., August 18, 1867. To this happy union eight children were born, of whom four sons and two daughters are living, Frank, Leroy, Archie, of this city, and Leslie of New York, and the daughters Mrs. Earnest Allard, of this city and Mrs. Daisy DeWitt, of Bloomfield. Two sisters and two brothers also survive her death. The sisters are Mrs. S. J. Barlow, of Kane, Pa., and Mrs. Belle Northop, of this city. John, lives at Armona Cal., and Thos. at Knox City, Mo. All the surviving children and one brother, Thomas, were present at the funeral. Also Mrs. P. L. Cory, of Parsons, Kans., sister of her husband was present. Mr. Comstock died Sept. 26, 1898.

Mrs. Comstock was an active and a faithful member of the Methodist church. She was always to be found ever willing and ready to do her full share of any work that might be assigned to her. She was prominent in lodge work, being connected with the Rebekahs, the W.R.C. and has for several terms been connected with the B. of A.Y. as correspondent.

Mrs. Comstock moved with her husband and family to Wright county in 1875, settling on a farm northeast of this city where they resided for many years, finally moving into town where she has lived ever since. She was a noble Christian woman, a kind and forgiving and loving neighbor, true to her family and friends, and such a life will be greatly missed in a large circle of acquaintances. The children and relatives of Mrs. W. S. Comstock wish to express their thanks to all who so kindly extended to them their aid and sympathy during their bereavement.
