Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Kastler Funeral Home for Roy Comstock who died Saturday in the Veterans hospital, Des Moines. Mr. Comstock had been in failing health for the past year and spent many weeks at various times in the hospital for surgery and care. Rev. Harrison Dawes had charge of the service and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. Casketbearers were Sumner Paine, James Abbott, Fred Brisbin, Wm. Floyd, Hubert Banks and Norman Fisher.
Mr. Comstock was a long time resident of Eagle Grove having come here with his parents about 75 years ago before the present town was laid out or the railroad was here. As a young boy he lived with his parents in a log house west of Eagle Grove and in 1898 he enlisted in the army and served in the Spanish American war. Later he farmed east of Eagle Grove, but for many years the family has resided at 202 So. Lincoln Ave.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Kenneth of Omaha, Neb., Winfield of Eagle Grove and Jack of Des Moines. Also six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Other survivors are two sisters Mrs. Nellie Allard of California and Mrs. Daisy DeWitt of Salt Lake City, Utah.
